BJP criticizes Congress for comments on Hemant Kakare’s death, claims to have given Pakistan a clean chit over 26/11 attacks
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday lashed out at the Congress after party leader Vijay Wadettiwar accused Maharashtra police officer Hemant Kakare Hemant Karkare made controversial remarks regarding the death of Hemant Karkare in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
Wadtiwar came under sharp criticism after claiming that Kakare was killed not by Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab but by an officer affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Wade Tiwar’s unsubstantiated claims triggered widespread condemnation from several leaders in the state. Wadetiwar was reported to have earlier said that the Kalkare shooting was carried out on the instructions of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, but the BJP has strongly denied this.

“Who Killed Kakare”
Following criticism, Wadtiwar cited a book titled “Who Killed Kakare” written by retired police officer SM Mushrif as the basis for his claim. The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly objected to Wadetiwar’s remarks and accused the Congress of putting vote bank politics ahead of national security.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala accused the Congress of giving Pakistan a “clean slate” and accused the party of questioning the patriotism of figures such as Ujjwal Nikam. is the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency. In Nagpur, the BJP’s legal team filed a complaint against Wadetiwar’s remarks, which it termed “shameful and derogatory”.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis both condemned Vadtiwar’s statement, with Fadnavis accusing the opposition of indulging in nika Target Mu and side with the terrorists. “These are not my words, I am just saying what is written in SM Mushrif’s book. All the information about the bullet in which Hemant Kakare was shot is in it, it was not a terrorist’s bullet,” Vadtiwar said said in response to criticism.
