Chopra is expected to travel to India from Doha to kick off her season in the first leg of the prestigious tournament diamond league May 10 series.
“Based on the entries @Neeraj_chopra1 and Kishore Kumar Jena will be competing in the domestic competition starting from May 12 in Bhubaneswar,” sports Union of India tweeted.
Chopra’s coach Klaus Bartonitz also confirmed to PTI that his ward will participate in the event in Bhubaneswar. Kishore JenaThe 28-year-old, who won silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games where Chopra won gold, will also compete in the Doha Diamond League on May 10.
Chopra last participated in a domestic competition on March 17, 2021 at the same competition, where he won the gold medal with a throw of 87.80m. Since then, he has achieved numerous milestones, including winning a historic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the 2022 Diamond League Champion, the 2023 World Champion, and defending his Asian Games gold medal in China.
He also won three Diamond League individual events and won a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships. However, Chopra has yet to reach the 90m mark, with his personal best and national record standing at 89.94m.
