New Delhi, May 9: The Irish consulate has issued visas to Pakistani cricketers prompting Pakistan cricket authorities to heave a sigh of relief on May 9. This would be in time for him to join the side for their second T20I in Dublin which will take place on May 12.
Clontarf stadium hosts the first of the three T20s.
A reliable source at PCB confirmed that they have been intimated by Aamir’s visa clearance and plans are underway to get him from Lahore into joining his team.
The rest of the team had left for Dublin on Tuesday (May 7), but Amir remained in Lahore, awaiting his visa, which has now been granted.
Both teams have been at loggerheads during negotiations. The PCB and Irish Cricket have given reasons behind Amir’s delayed visa issuance
It was understood that technical issues were responsible for this delay as stated by insider sources yet no specific reason was provided by the Irish consulate.
“This Visa delay is obviously not going down well with PCB as it disrupts team management’s plans for (T20) World Cup and also impacts affected players who are staging comeback after four year international retirement,” said sources.
Pakistan proceeds to Leeds, England after series against Ireland wherefrom it will play four T20Is starting from May 22.
It is worth noting that Aamir easily got a visa to play Ireland’s first Test match against Pakistan in 2018.
