Saturday as announced by Englands and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), fast bowler, Mark Wood has been called up to play against West Indies in the second Test after he was named in place of James Anderson. The contest will take place at Trent Bridge next week.
The third highest wicket taker in the format BBC Sports said that Reuters reported, “Anderson, aged 41, retired on Friday after completing his 188th Test match, having claimed 704 wickets throughout his impressive 21-year career.”
England defeated Lord’s West Indies by an innings and 44 runs.
Wood who is 34 years old has played for England in 34 test matches scoring a total of 108 wickets before this game. He last featured for his country in May during the series against India.
Thursday is when the second test will start while the third and final one of the rubber commences on July 26 in Birmingham.
