On Saturday, a court in Pakistan acquitted Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister, and his spouse Bushra Khan of charges for being legally married according to Naeem Panjutha, their attorney.
This verdict was issued from Rawalpindi garrison town.
For breaking Islamic law by not adhering to the required time period between Bibi’s separation from her previous husband and her marriage with him, both aged 71 years at that time were sentenced for seven years in February.
This acquittal is a major legal victory for Khan who has had several other court battles since he was removed from power because it overturns the earlier conviction thus clearing them of any guilt over their matrimony.
