Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao has been formally installed in office as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court at a ceremony held here on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Justice Rao was administered the oath of office by the Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at the Raj Bhawan here.
The swearing in ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his cabinet colleagues, a number of judges and senior government officials.
Appointment of Chief Justices was done in seven High Courts on September 21.
Justice Rao who was the president of the Himachal Pradesh High Court was given the abuse of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
His transfer came amidst the move by the Jharkhand government which recently lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court against the BJP in the Center for not complying with the top court collegium’s recommendations on appointing Justice Rao to run the State High Court.
The appointments came two weeks after the Supreme Court Collegium revised some of its July 11 recommendations.
