England’s former captain, Michael Vaughan, has raised concerns about the fixtures of the T20 World Cup which went in favour of India. He also noted that India had a venue for their semi-final even before they qualified for the stage.
Vaughan remained defiant despite India hammering England by 68 runs in the T20 World Cup semis.
“They would have got the Trinidad semi if England beat SA and I reckon they would have won.. So no complaints they haven’t been good enough .. But Guyana has been a lovely venue pick for India,” he wrote on X.
However, Harbhajan Singh, a retired Indian spin bowler did not like Vaughan’s post. And informed him that England was horrible against India all over.
“Why do u think Guyana was better venue for India ? Both Teams played on the same venue . England won the toss that was an advantage. Stop being silly. England was outplayed by India in all departments. Accept the fact and Move on and keep ur rubbish with urself. Talk logic not Nonsense,” Harbhajan responded.
Talking about match, it was rain-hit one as India posted 171/7 after being put into bat at Providence Stadium in Guyana with skipper Rohit Sharma (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (47) doing most of their work on a slow track;
Never really recovering from top-order collapse, England were all out for 103 in 17th over to spin duo Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav who took three wickets each.
Vaughan is noted for his criticism of BCCI flexing its muscle and financial might in international cricket mainly by playing numerous home series.
“Well, it’s their tournament isn’t it? Literally it’s that. You know that. They get to play whenever they want, they know exactly where their semi-final is, they play every single game in morning so people can watch them at night, obviously in India on the television,” Vaughan said.
