“Karnataka High Court bans Hamare Baarah; reasons that ‘the move is to avoid spreading communal hatred’”.
The decision by the Karnataka court to ban Hamare Baarah’s release has attracted controversy as it reveals that various organizations had requested for its banning after they viewed the movie trailer. The court further added that this would be necessary in order to prevent any possible tensions between communities within their state.
Hamare Baarah has received a great amount of criticism so far even without being officially released, such that its trailers were removed from platforms just immediately they were put up. It seems that a large number are concerned about crude and divisive content of these movies. Others argue that the trailer is “deeply disturbing,” suggesting that it may have negative effects especially amongst younger people who might get influenced with hate and toxicity.
In addition, Manoj Joshi, producer of the film told IANS, “This movie was not made to target any religion.” In our country today there are discussions on respect for women. No society can disrespect women; no woman should be looked down upon as an object or a thing; she should be respected as happens here in India. Besides, this film talks on diverse subjects like education, upbringing, employment opportunities available to women along with their respect and empowerment as well as population control among others. Thereby every family should watch this movie.”
