The Indian cricket team has begun preparations for the upcoming ICC 2024 T20 World Cup in New York. The most significant tournament is scheduled to be held in United States of America and West Indies beginning June 2.
Roit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav (one among a group of India cricketer) as well as head coach Rahul Dravid and other members arrived in New York few days ago have started training.
Jasprit Bumrah posted some pictures on his social media handle one showing the players running while another featuring himself training which are also signs that the team is moving towards getting ready for competition.
Suryakumar Yadav too shared some pictures from their first training sessions in New York.
In Group A, men’s team includes Pakistan their arch-rivals alongside USA who will co-host this year’s event with West Indies, Ireland and Canada. They beat Ireland at New York on June 5th to launch their world cup campaign.
Prior to this main event, India is set to play warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1st.
India was knocked out in last edition of T20 world cup contest semifinals by England by ten wickets. Tournament winners, England had defeated Pakistan in the finals.
So far, India has won only one T20 World Cup trophy after defeating Pakistan during the final at Johannesburg ground located in South Africa under MS Dhoni leadership during the inaugural edition held in 2007.
The current squad hopes to emulate such triumphs and return home with the trophy once more.
