The former Sri Lanka batter, Russel Arnold has commended Gautam Gambhir’s new role as Head coach of Team India following his appointment as successor to Rahul Dravid. According to Arnold, Gambhir will offer new energy to the team as a leader and prevent players from being complacent.
Gambhir is set to make his debut as head coach in the forthcoming white ball series against Sri Lanka that starts on Saturday.
Arnold praised Gambhir’s administrative skills and his ability to get things done. In his interview with Parami News, Arnold stated, “Sometimes when we play we are able to go out there and perform but then it becomes difficult for me to convey a message across and for others who can perform which Gautam Gambhir has shown he can do this”. “We absolutely know it’s going to be a different kind of style.”
Arnold argued that Gambhir’s unique approach could shock the team positively by emphasizing on the importance of change for maintaining competitiveness.
He added more saying “So obviously there’ll be adjustments required when dealing with Gautam Gambhir but I think it is good now because you become too familiar with one system even though they have been shaken up maybe even woken up so much which means you still need improvement further are still performing”.
This marks the start of a new era for Team India under Gambhir’s guidance and India vs Sri Lanka series which begins at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium –India played their final game with Australia two days ago.
