India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, picked up a left thumb injury during a practice session leading up to the much anticipated match against Pakistan.
However, after receiving treatment from the team’s medical staff, Sharma was able to continue practicing. The game will be taking place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
During net session of 37 years old Sharma was hit on his thumb and this necessitated that he receives urgent attention from the medical personnel. After assessing him, Sharma resumed his batting practice.
The first match for India in this campaign versus Ireland took place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium with its uneven slow outfield. In it India won by eight wickets and Sharma scored 52 runs off 37 balls before being incapacitated by an injury and retiring after the tenth over.
The state of the pitch at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has been a matter of concern. The ICC acknowledged that the pitches at this venue have not turned out as consistently as expected. On its part ICC stated that measures are being taken to enhance pitch conditions for better playing surfaces in future matches.
According to a statement by ICC “T20 Inc and the ICC recognize that we all would have preferred more consistent play across all pitches used so far at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.”
