India entered the T20 World Cup Super Eights with three straight wins in Group A, but whether the 2007 winners can remain unbeaten against Canada on Saturday is entirely dependent on Florida’s climatic condition.
Florida has been under a situation of imminent flooding in some areas hence resulting to declaration of a state of emergency that implies it is not yet clear whether India will play against Canada or not.
Friday morning’s wet conditions at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill caused the washout of USA’s match against Ireland as hosts, creating an upset and making history at the same time.
The rained-out match meant Pakistan, who won this title in 2009, were out while USA made sensational entry into Super Eight stage on their first appearance at this event.
The result of USA vs Ireland also suggests that last two matches between these two teams are irrelevant as far as group standing are concern such that India will take top position followed by USA when they progress over to next round of the tournament.
India have defeated Ireland, USA and Pakistan so far for six points while USA have five from their coupleteens; a win and no-result including a historical victory over Pakistan.
However, despite grim forecasts for Lauderhill region in Florida where weather is scheduled to start at 10:30 am local time (8 pm IST), game could still be played with slight improvement according to later forecast which reads better for afternoon games although slightly bad for morning encounters.
