According to reports, Team India that won the T20 World Cup in Barbados will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi after returning from the country.
For the last two days hurricane Beryl has rendered Indian team stranded in Barbados; IANS said that it is expected to leave Barbados on Tuesday evening and reach Delhi on Wednesday.
Sources said: “India cricket team likely to meet PM Modi late on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning, after returning from Barbados.”
The PM had called up immediately after India’s win and congratulated them for their success.
While praising Virat Kohli for his 76-run innings and contribution of Indian cricket, he also applauded Rohit Sharma’s impeccable captaincy and remembered his T20 career. Also thanked was coach Rahul Dravid for playing such a valuable role throughout the game.
On Saturday in Barbados, India won its second T20 World Cup title. The first time this happened was back in 2007 during the first ever edition of such events when Men in Blue lifted it again.
This has been a long-awaited ICC tournament victory for India since they last won the Champions Trophy in England some 11 years ago.
