On the 9th of June in New York, India and Pakistan are expected to play in a T20 World Cup match that is likely to be watched by none other than the great Sachin Tendulkar.
The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma will be supported at Nassau County ground by this fifty one year old legend who has connections with an important ICC sponsor.
ICC source says that the stadium situated in the outskirts of New York will be filled up until capacity by morning of arch-rivals’ clash. It is clear that Tendulkar’s presence will increase excitement and importance during a high profile event like this one.
A source familiar with ICC who asked not to be named told PTI, “Yes, if everything goes as expected he will be watching the game at New York and cheering up for Indian team.”
It is still unclear whether or not he is going to have time with players before match, but his presence alone on stands would lift moral of Rohit Sharma and co going into their most crucial group league fixture.
Tendulkar remains indisputably India’s greatest ever cricketer an5d also tops both test and ODI run-charts. He played six 50-over World Cups between 1992-2011 for India.
Also earlier he had been ‘Brand Ambassador’ of ICC during the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
