The incident occurred due to a miscommunication between Jadeja and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, which resulted in Jadeja denying the second try despite being midway down the pitch.
The third man fielder then threw the ball to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who aimed at the bowler’s end.
The delivery struck Jadeja, triggering an appeal from Rajasthan Royals. After a review, a third referee determined that Jadeja was aware of the trajectory of the ball, resulting in his ejection.
Rajasthan Royals director of cricket when asked about Jadeja’s sacking Kumar Sangakkara Said this is how the law works.
“The law states that if a batsman changes direction and impedes the delivery, it is considered a hindrance. A few years ago, the rules were changed for the same reason,” he clarified.
“Even if you (run) in the middle, if the ball hits your body, it’s considered out. If he (Jadeja) runs straight on the side where he stopped, it won’t be a problem at all.”
