India’s former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh suggested that India should play Rishabh Pant as the preferred wicketkeeper and use Yashasvi Jaiswal as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner to ensure some left-handed batters in their batting line-up for the T20 World Cup next month.
He has been in impeccable form as an opener for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, having scored 708 runs from 14 games this season.
In contrast, Yuvraj paired the right-hander Rohit with a left-hand batsman Jaiswal at opening and then followed by Kohli.
At present, Suryakumar Yadav is the best T20 player who will most probably stay at number four.
“I think Rohit and Jaiswal should definitely open,” said Yuvraj, who was part of India’s victorious T20 World Cup team in 2007, according to International Cricket Council.
“Virat has been batting at number three (in T20 internationals) and that’s his position. You get Surya at four and then you got a couple of big options.
“I’d like to see a couple of left-hand, right-hand combinations because it is harder to bowl at two combinations all the time.”
That’s why Yuvraj would choose Pant over Sanju Samson even though both wicketkeepers have been outstanding in IPL –Yuvraj-a southpaw himself-would choose Pant over Sanju Samson-even though both wicketkeepers have been outstanding in this year’s IPL-Yuvraj-a southpaw-lover himself-would still go for Pant instead of Samson since he also believes that while both keepers have performed brilliantly throughout the tournament-Yuvaraj-another left-handed batter Yuvraj-another left-hander-in this case, bat first.
