The ICC on Monday has announced an outstanding prize money of $11.25 million for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, making it a new record.

“The winning team of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is being awarded at least $2.45 million – the highest cash award ever in its history,” according to an ICC media statement.

This will be the ninth edition of the tournament where twenty teams will take part in over a period of twenty-eight days and across nine districts in West Indies and USA thereby making it the largest of such kind.

Thereafter, the runners-up will get no less than $1.28m, while semi-final losers will leave with $787,500 each. Teams that do not go past round two will receive a fee of $382,500 apiece whereas those ranked between 9th and 12th positions shall earn themselves some funds amounting to $247,500 respectively per side.

From position number thirteen all through to position seat twenty inclusive commands an award of two hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars each for every team. In addition, every team is entitled to an extra sum of thirty one thousand one hundred fifty four US dollars for wining any match played during this tournament except semis and finals matches.

The first phase consisting forty games would give way for Super 8s then climax with two semifinal encounters slated for Trinidad &Tobago as well as Guyana respectively.

Finally, Kensington Oval located at Barbados is hosting the final match which would see men’s champions in year twenty four crowned here.

“This event is historic in so many ways so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hopeful that Out Of This World affair becomes true; we anticipate billions of fans globally entertained by cricketers,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said via a press release.
