An Air India plane with flight identification AIC24WC is believed to be the one that would fly the Indian T20 world champs from Bridgetown in Barbados to New Delhi.
Reports suggest that the plane flew from New Jersey to Bridge Town where they will be boarding it. Additionally, it was learnt that the Indian media, who had been in West Indies for covering of T20 World Cup, will also be on board since BCCI has made special arrangements for them to return home as well – a gesture towards helping stranded mediapersons.
Barbados has been hit by Hurricane ‘Beryl’, which led to cancellation of flights and closure of Grantley Adams International Airport for certain period of time.
India beat South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on 29 June 2010.
The flight with call sign AIC24WC is expected to touchdown at Barbados around 2 am local time.
According to new itinerary, the team is scheduled to leave Barbados at 4:30 am local time. They expect that if there are no extra delays during the flight duration between Barbados and Delhi which may last up to sixteen hours; then their arrival date will remain unaltered as planned. The team is therefore projected to reach Delhi by Thursday morning six o’clock IST provided everything goes according to schedule.
The Indian team’s original schedule had them departing Barbados around 6 pm local time on July 2, with an anticipated arrival time of 7:45 pm (IST) on Wednesday. But weather disrupted those plans.
