Mohammad Kaif, the former Indian cricketer, frowned at lack of support for Pakistan within the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The fans and ex-players did not back them as noted by him. He also admitted that Pakistan played badly in the tournament.
The team led by Babar Azam was eliminated after their USA vs Ireland Group A match was abandoned due to rain in Lauderhill, Florida on Friday.
Pakistan lost their first two group matches against co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India. Beating Canada in their third game enabled them to stay in the race while depending on other results.
“There is a commotion there. Who is supporting them? Everyone stands against them whether you talk about their former players I am watching everything no one is supporting them although they have played extremely badly,” Kaif said on Star Sports.
Kaif lashed out at senior pacer Mohammad Amir for bowling too many extras during the Super Over against USA.
“Mohammed Amir bowled wide balls in the super over of the first match, it was an awful bowling.” “You lost that match because of bowling and then in the next match you couldn’t chase 119.” “In addition to dropping catches which is bad batting,” he retorted when he finally observed.“I do understand they have defeated Canada but they didn’t do anything there for which you should praise them.”
Babar Azam had set (against India) and could have won the game. Even Mohammad Rizwan had been doing well before this. But they lose when both batsmen are set because of batting. They disintegrate under pressure. They miss catches and bat poorly under pressure,” he concluded.
