The Board of Control for Cricket in India stated that the substitutes named on Tuesday were for pacers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik who would be missing in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy due to reasons of ill health.
In addition to that, great Indian all rounder Ravi Jadeja has been released by Team B as the ANI report has said.
Top Indian cricketers from the international and domestic circuits as well as budding cricketers will participate in the Duleep Trophy which marks the commencement of red ball cricket in the domestic season. The event is scheduled to kick off on September 5, 2024 in M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
The Pacers will be replaced in Team B and C teams respectively by Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav.
In a statement the BCCI said, “The Men’s Selection Committee announced two of the four players from the squads made for the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy. Pacer Saini Navdeep is called instead of ‘M’ Siraj Mohd. in Team B against B. Yadav Gaurav replaces U Malick Umran in Team C. EHC Siraj and Malik are both unwell and are unlikely to recover in good time to feature in their respective Duleep Trophy fixtures.”
