On Thursday morning, the Indian cricket team led by Captain Rohit Sharma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The team then proceeded to Mumbai after the meeting, accompanied by Rahul Dravid who is one of their coaches.

Indira Gandhi International Airport had earlier set in stringent security measures to manage the crowd but that could not dampen fans’ enthusiasm. They cheered, holding posters of star batter Virat Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma and outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid.

At T3 Terminal, two buses were parked for players travelling to ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel where they were received by traditional Bhangra dancers and dhol performances.

Some of the dancers included Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma just to mention a few and it was a memorable moment for all.

Even on duty security personnel seemed to enjoy moments as players mingled with gathered crowd while shaking hands before proceeding into their rooms after cutting cake meant for reception.

Amidst this anticipated media frenzy. In a short while later the team left for the prime minister’s 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence after which they had other busy schedules lined up for them during the day. They stayed at his place about 2 hours before heading back to their Hotel

The team later arrived at the airport going back to Mumbai following their meeting with him.

They maintained professional decorum throughout the proceedings acknowledging fan support even though they adhered to necessary security protocols. Upon welcoming them warmly and getting an opportunity to meet PM Modi was a fitting celebration of what has been achieved by this side as well as acknowledgement of national pride in its performance.
