Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn put his name into the annals of cricketing history as one of the greatest ever with 699 international wickets.
In terms of express pace bowlers, Dale Steyn’s name has become a benchmark for excellence and his exploits are well-documented globally. In the USA, where cricket is still growing, Steyn experienced a funny incident.
During T20 World Cup, he met a new staff member who didn’t know who he was.The tournament grounds employee had no idea about South Africa’s legendary player and casually gave him some tips on how to bowl.
The video went viral on social media where the staffer was captured telling Dale Steyn not to bend his arm while bowling as doing so is illegal in cricket.
Moreover, he cautioned the former celebrated Protea that before it reaches the batter, the ball should at least touch the ground once.
Furthermore, from his reaction it seems like Dale Steyn liked these lessons or maybe he did not want anyone to know who he was. In Test matches alone for South Africa, Dale has played 93 tests taking 439 wickets; ODIs (125) capturing196 victims and T20Is (47) with 64 victims. He holds this record for most wickets by any South African in test cricket.
On Monday South Africa opened their World Cup campaign with a difficult six-wicket win over Sri Lanka.
Tearaway pacer Anrich Nortje took career-best figures of 4-7 to spearhead a dominant bowling display from South Africa which restricted Sri Lanka to just 77 runs all out and lead them to an easy victory during warm up games.
South Africa had completed their chase within 22 balls even when they were reduced four down by Sri Lankan bowlers during their opening match in style.
