India’s batting coach, Vikram Rathour, has observed that the pitch at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua might favor Bangladesh on Saturday.
Rathour however argued that the Antigua pitch usually suits spinners and as such Bangladesh do well in those conditions.
He also admitted that the Bangladeshi team has their strength when it comes to conditions that are likely to support spinning.
“They’re a good unit. They have quite a few guys who can spin bowling and they are good in certain conditions. And these conditions do suit them a little as a team I think because the wickets seem to have some assistance for spinners and they do have some spinners in their team. But again, in this format, I think every team is a tough team,” he said during his pre-match press conference as quoted by ANI.
But despite all of this Rathour still believed that his side had what it takes to win.
“I think we played already in New York where possible worst weather is already happened so anything after that just feels good only. Even today was really nice. So expecting wickets which will be better. Not as challenging as what we had in New York. And again, we have equipped ourselves I mean as a team, as a batting unit to deal with any kind of condition put on us by anyone,” he continued.
For India’s last match against Afghanistan it showed how strong India were while Bangladesh’s loss indicated how tough they will find it.
However, the next game looks like being interesting particularly given Rathour’s comments about the wicket and India’s readiness to adjust according to circumstance.
