China could organize a peace conference where Russia and Ukraine would participate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted as saying by RIA news agency on Thursday.
Lavrov stated that such a step is in line with China’s ongoing efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
During his interview with the agency, Lavrov said “We share (China) position that the root causes of the conflict need to be addressed in the first place and legal interests of all parties need to be protected, with subsequent agreements based on the principle of equal and indivisible security.”
“This means that we must not forget about respecting real-life facts which preserve people’s aspirations,” he said.
Russia has called for talks many times but only if Kyiv and its Western partners recognize Moscow’s territorial gains in Ukraine. Kyiv has rejected these overtures.
Furthermore, He accused Washington of helping Ukraine, describing it as “an accomplice in the crimes of the Kiev regime.” Also Lavrov stated that America was “fanning the flames of conflict” in the Middle East.
