Yash Dhull, a talented Indian cricketer aged 21, who previously led the nation’s u-19 team, is slowly coming back to the game after heart surgery done a while ago in DPL. He has heart ailment since birth and this was rectified by surgery after it was detected at a normal scan at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, where he went for training during off season.
Yash Dhull was in a training camp in the NCA when he was diagnosed during a routine check-up in his heart – a congenital condition which included a hole in his heart. The NCA’s medical personnel recommended instant surgery to Dhull, which he had in Delhi. She also had a News18 report according to which BCCI made sure the best of care was given to him and also comprehended his recovery process.
“Yash was advised by their team to get heart surgery during his NCA checkup consultation with a few doctors. That was the recently concluded emerging players camp center in Bengaluru. The surgery was a success, and Yash is definitely improving each day,” said Pradeep Kochar, Dhull’s childhood coach.
Directly from Yash Dhull’s father, Vijay, there was also an explanation concerning the condition that it was a congenital one and the objective facts helped in deciding on surgery for the benefit of the son’s health and cricket career. “That is not surprising at all. It was a defect from birth, and the NCA team suggested a few stitches in the wall to shut the hole. He did that in delhi, and during the time BCCI also kept a track of that,” said vijay Kumar.
Ever since getting the NCA fitness Pill, Yash Dhull has been being reintroduced bit by bit to professional cricket. Dhull’s work in the DPL has been muted owing to his recuperation period.
“I have my own pain… I’ve been through certain situations before and have returned to normalcy after recovery. It’s taking some time, it’s going to be a long journey but I’m positive and I know I’ll myself give a hundred percent for my game,” after the last game Dhull noted to a few words.
It is fair to say that Yash Dhull may have had a slow start but his grit has managed to earn the respect of his coaches and his mates. “The NCA has given him the certificate of fitness, so there shouldn’t be an issue in any of the formats going forward. Even going forward, there shouldn’t be any problem for him to play the Ranji Trophy and the longer formats,” Kochar remarked, reaffirming the faith in Dhull’s complete recovery.
Dhull’s return to the game of cricket after undergoing heart surgery has been nothing short of an act of bravery. With fitness and form in their sights, the cricketing world hopes that he does not take too long to reach those heights that he has been able to display at a tender age.
