Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian cricketer says Virat Kohli’s form does not worry him too much as he emphasizes on the performance of the entire team in preparation for Saturday’s T20 World Cup final against South Africa.
Kohli has had a tough time with his batting since arriving for this marquee event and has found it hard to get going. Nevertheless, Indian players have been outstanding and taken them all the way to the championship without losing. His batting has been well below par after managing only 75 runs at an average of 10.71 from seven games.
There is never any mention however of changes in team strategies or tactics that have helped make it a success when analyzing sports stories
“Virat Kohli’s form does not bother me so much because actually we are doing quite well as a team” said Manjrekar, who is an expert on “Caught and Bold” show on Disney+ Hotstar.
Manjrekar believes that India may win the World Cup next year due to their new playing strategy.
“Yes, India can win the world cup by 2024 because India has invented a new template which is modern for playing T20 cricket with and it is already bearing fruits”, said Mr. Manjrekar
The match will be between two unbeaten sides; India and South Africa who reached this point without dropping any game. He also highlighted how dangerous some key players from South Africa are including their pace bowlers, opening batsmen.
“I would say one of the fast bowlers, either Anrich Nortje or Rabada. In batting Quinton De Kock for sure,” Manjrekar added.
India’s journey to this stage was led by Rohit Sharma whose leadership saw them playing fearless cricket right through. This newly adopted strategy according to Manjrekar can result in India breaking its ICC world cup droughts.
