New information has been presented about the life of Queen Elizabeth II in a recent biography that reveals some of her aspects with the former US president, Donald Trump. The book “A Voyage Around The Queen” by Craig Brown argues that she believed him to be ‘very rude’ and speculated on whether he cheated on his wife Melania.
The book also contains details of some controversial leaders the queen had to entertain during her reign.
According to Craig Brown’s book, Queen Elizabeth did not actually like Trump’s behavior while he was visiting UK twice during his presidency. In particular, she found it very disrespectful when Trump looked over her shoulder as if searching for someone else more interesting than herself.
A few weeks after one of President Trump’s visits, she reportedly shared these thoughts with a guest at lunch. For example, following President Trump’s visit to Britain in 2018, he said at a luncheon with one guest that she was “rude,” adding that “it annoyed me how much he kept looking past my back every time we were together.”
Melania Trump’s marriage to Donald is also discussed by the biography’s author. According to Queen Elizabeth, who reasoned out all this in her mind for many years thereafter, they must have had an agreement between them but she did not know what it was. This is based on page 176: “Anyhow [italics mine], she also thought President Trump ‘must have some sort of arrangement’ with his wife Melania otherwise why else would she still be married to him?”
The book mentions other controversial foreign heads of state whom the queen hosted during her long reign including Bashar al-Assad, Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin Dada Oumee and Vladimir Putin among others. “During her long reign however [italics mine], Her Majesty entertained many such figures…” (Brown)
According to Brown though Her Majesty didn’t always find their company “convivial,” she never publicly criticized her role. And once the controversial leaders had gone, there was probably a “discreet word of disapproval” that might have been voiced.
Trump has often publically admired Queen Elizabeth on his part. He first met her in 2018, a year into his term as the 45th US President. There were controversies around this visit and it was called “working visit” instead of a full state one with many protests including the one with a baby balloon resembling Trump held aloft.
In their first meeting at Windsor Castle, Trump took tea alone with the monarch while no other senior royals were present. This occasion ended up being marred by protocol breaches, him keeping the 92-year old monarch waiting in stinging heat and stepping in front of her when inspecting the Guard of Honour. She moved aside to reach him
Trump said he “had a great relationship with the Queen.” Upon hearing news of her death, Donald Trump expressed deep sorrow and high regard for her in an official statement describing a remarkable lady who is big.
This new revelation makes Voyage Around The Queen an intimate look into thoughts unexpressed by Queen Elizabeth II about one of the most discussed global figures today. Comment from Buckingham Palace is still awaited on these claims.
