In 2019, Baharrampur had 1,638,378 voters and 1,299,997 valid votes. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Indian National Congress won with 591,106 votes, defeating Apurba Sarkar (David) of the All-India Trinamool Congress who polled 510,410 votes ). Chaudhry won with 80,696 votes.
In 2014, there were 1,453,783 eligible voters in the Baharrampur Assembly constituency and 1,154,587 valid votes were cast. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Congress Party won, becoming an MP with 583,549 votes. Indranil Sen from TMC came second with 226,982 votes and lost by 356,567 votes.
The major parties vying for seats in West Bengal include the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and an alliance of the Left Front and the Indian National Congress.
The model code of conduct came into effect on March 16 and will continue until the counting process is completed on June 4.
