Sharing on social media, astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy posted a video of Saturn appearing from behind the Moon, evoking interest in many other fans of astronomy.
In the video that piled both X and McCarthy, Saturn emerges in its rings quite clearly, but in monochromic flashes. This 1.03-minute clip depicts Saturn coming out from behind the shadow of the moon, making these bodies of space beautiful.
To make his images capture Saturn in a perspective of making all the necessary colors pronounced, McCarthy applied an extreme black spot only on Saturn’s skin. Taking pictures of Saturn’s moons, he creatively covered images ungainly when the planet moved behind the moon.
“Here you can find a raw footage of the moon search from behind Saturn. This movie consists of only one edit, that the shadows have been brightened to bring out Saturn which was very much darker than that full moon. Shooting the moon with infrared led to this black and white film. The ingress was captured in color,” McCarthy wrote on X.
As demonstrated in the McCarthy’s video, occultations, a fascinating aspect whereby one body comes forward to cover another, is captured which supports investigation work as astronomers.
The astonishing transformation Covid Consumers underwent was awed at by consumers, as evidenced in the comment,”Wow! What an incredible transformation you’ve made.” In another instance, McCarthy was thanked by another user over the interesting topic, “the luminosity difference between the Moon and Saturn.” One X user ‘flattered’ McCarthy’s pictures describing them as ‘Amazing photography!’
