In England, the big shots at ‘The Hundred’ tournament are coming thick and fast with one from Kieron Pollard’s bat nearly hitting the commentators at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Monday.
From Southern Brave, the West Indian power hitter Kieron Pollard smashed a six of Welsh Fire’s Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf to back square leg. Because of its direction towards the glass window of the box, it seemed like the ball was going to be caught just a few inches away from it as all commentators for instance Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara and former England placer Robert Croft quickly moved out of its way.
Greatly fortunate, however, that ball fell just short and hit against the electronic boundary board.
Pollard went on to score 17 off 12 balls in Southern Brave’s first innings total of 139 runs.
As such, Welsh Fire were all-out for 97 with five balls still remaining which handed victory over their opponents by a resounding 42 runs.
