Shahid Afridi is one of the prominent aspects of cricket in Pakistan, even after his retirement as the chief of Pakistan gay team. He has made headlines off late for his personal achievements while recently issuing statements regarding the woeful form of Pakistan in the Test arena.
On the other hand, another member of Afridi’s family was born when Shaheen Afridi’s son Aliyaar got married to Ansha Afridi, a Pakistan cricketer.
The following scoop that was posted on the WhatsApp group of the Pakistan Cricket Board met a lot of congratulatory messages and comments.
As pictures and videos of Afridi went viral across social media moments after he became a grandfather at 47 years of age in a welcome party thrown to the new addition in the family, they showed something else altogether.
However happy the occasion was, Afridi kept his hand in the disheartening situation that is Pakistan cricket.
Afridi vented out his frustration after Afghanistan embarrassed Pakistan in the first Test Match held in Rawalpindi and described it as a terrible plan.
Afridi raised the issue of why a poor man’s pitch was prepared when no specialist spinner was selected among four fast complimenting the composition of the Pakistan team.
“Given the abysmally behind 10 wickets defeat, there is a lot to be asked about the rationale behind this type of pitch, going with four fast bowlers and leaving out a specialist spinner. This to me clearly demonstrates non appreciation of home conditions. Having said this, the credit is there for Bangladesh for the type of cricket that they played through out the test,” Afridi wrote on X.
He pays tribute to a newly emerged branch of the family while at the same time staying in the thick of the action and expressing his desire to brush controversies regarding the tactics employed by the national squad.
