There may have been a spoiler in the first T20I between England and Pakistan at Headingley on Wednesday, but Mohammad Rizwan made certain that even amidst bad weather conditions the viewers still had something to cheer about.
However, despite these interruptions by the rain, the Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman provided moments of excitement.
A comical moment occurred while Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan and Stuart Broad were chatting on Sky Sports studio when Pakistani players passed by waving their hands at them and then Rizwan playfully disrupted this live broadcast by knocking on its glass which left everyone laughing.
This match was supposed to herald the defence of last year’s T20 World Cup crown won by England next month in West Indies and the United States.
But a heavy long downpour in Leeds resulted in umpires announcing an end to the game about an hour before it was supposed to start at 1730 GMT.
Similarly, four matches against Pakistan that helped England win 2022 T20 World Cup final in Melbourne will continue on Saturday at Edgbaston ground in Birmingham before games next week both in Cardiff and The Oval.
England also went into last year’s 50-over World Cup as defending champions in India; however, Jos Buttler’s squad had an unceremonious exit, losing six out of nine matches.
