Jasprit Bumrah praised captain Rohit Sharma by saying that the 37-year-old had been “absolutely phenomenal.”
Rohit Sharma is now the third highest run getter in T20 World Cup 2024. He played seven matches and scored 248 runs at a strike rate of 155.97.
Bumrah spoke about his experience of playing under Rohit Sharma during Cricket World Cup 2023 in a clip. Which was posted on ICC’s official Instagram account. His words carried much weight as he spoke.
“Man, you know Rohit sharma, totally out of this world man! Even in the other World Cup, he’d be walking around shouting orders to everyone and the players would be freely doing whatever they wished for without him interfering with anything else just because he felt like they could handle it themselves too, can you imagine that? At some point in time, he has narrated his personal journey before an ongoing match. I love him as a captain and I am proud to play under him and we are very confident,” noted Jasprit.
The former England skipper Nasser Hussain revealed that for a long time he admired the Indian skipper’s ability to bat well as well as his leadership qualities. The ex-cricketer likened Rohit Sharma to an iron fist in a velvet glove situation.
“I have revered Rohit for ages – as a batsman, captain and human being. That kind of guy who will keep things calm when everything seems chaotic is what Rohit is all about. On the other hand Virat wears his heart on his sleeve people like. Rahul does not do all that cupcake type guys stuff alongside it; they wear passion on their sleeves. While leading others so far away from them so that nothing close will ever harm them at least during such games. Leaders are always called captains or having personalities known through their mouths. Only even if others see tales only no one could escape such things. This is Rohit’s way of being like a big brother to his teammates, and looking after them” Nasser Hussain said.
