Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batsman made a stunning return to red-ball cricket with his 86-ball century; what is more, he got there by smashing an incredible one-handed hit for six.
Playing against Madhya Pradesh in the Buchi Babu tournament on day two of the match on Friday, Jharkhand captain set the tone in style and scored 114 off 107 balls at a fierce pace that included 10 sixes and five fours.
In a clip that has since gone viral on social media-the best shot from the left-hander was when he came out of his crease against spinner Adheer Pratap Singh even though he did not entirely reach the pitch; nevertheless, Ishan went through with it and managed to hit a one hander towards long on boundary fence.
This knock could not have come at a better time for Ishan as India will be playing Bangladesh in two Test matches next month.
Madhya Pradesh were bowled out for 225 earlier in this game.
Moreover, Ishan has been named in Shreyas Iyer-led Duleep Trophy Team D’s squad.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah reiterated in a recent TOI interview that players are required to participate in local cricket whenever they are not involved in national duties so as to qualify for selection again.
“If they are not playing international cricket then they need to play domestic cricket so that they are eligible for selection. He needs to follow rules like other players,” Shah said.
