Indian American lawyer and Republican Party leader Harmeet Dhillon prayed an ‘Ardaas’ before the Republican National Convention with the presence of former President Donald Trump. The prayer, which is offered by Sikhs prior to starting any new venture, seeks divine protection and guidance to maintain humility, truthfulness, bravery in the face of danger or difficulty, selflessness as well as peace among all humans.
The same legal practitioner also appreciated God for what she termed as Chardikala spirit found in the president Trump representing “the tireless and uplifting spirit that is sustained even in the face of violent adversity, like a founding father centuries ago.”
She thanked him for saving his life and demonstrating nirbhay (fearlessness) and nirvir (absence of hate) despite being exposed to hatred which she cited of exceptional calmness inspiring them.
Dhillon who comes from a family of Sikh immigrants expressed her gratitude for America describing it as “a unique haven on this earth where all people are free to worship according to their faith”. She asked God’s blessings upon our country and its people leading us as we vote during the upcoming election while also asking Him to grant integrity upon those directing the election.
To end her prayer so that everyone can be prosperous enjoying peace through happiness, blessings and joyful spirits of spread joyousness by glorifying God’s name.
This week’s Republican National Convention began in Wisconsin with delegates and officials gathering following an assassination attempt made on president Donald Trump. Greeted as a hero at the convention wearing a white bandage over his ear and receiving applause from his supporters was Mr. Trump whom set to become GOP’s official nominee.
