On Friday at Manchester, during the ongoing England vs Sri Lanka first Test, a fan in the stands caught the attention of everyone as Ben Stokes’s doppelganger made a return appearance to the delight of English skipper and fans alike.
During day 3 of the second session, this time in his new persona, Stokes’ copy was seen wearing his Test jersey much to Old Trafford crowd’s pleasant surprise.
The look-alike for Stokes first came into limelight during England’s second test against West Indies last month in Nottingham.
Soon after his doppelganger was spotted by broadcasters on one of the huge screens on Friday, as shown above, Stokes gave him a thumbs-up. This led to rapturous cheers and smiles around when he later took off his jacket displaying his test jersey branded with ‘no.55 and stokesy’.
Previously, the English captain had been ruled out for the remainder of the term having torn his hamstring.
The ECB said that Ollie Pope has taken over as England’s Test captain for three matches against India with Ben unavailable for selection due to torn hamstring suffered while playing Northern Superchargers in The Hundred on Sunday.
