Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman struggling against the bowling of Naseem Shah’s younger brother Ubaid Shah
It’s true that Pakistan cricket team might not be as strong as it was in the early 2000s, but the country is still a conveyor belt for pacers.
Ubaid Shah is Naseem Shah’s younger brother and just like him, he is a right arm medium fast bowler playing for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has also played for Pakistan under-19 cricket team.
A video going viral on social media shows Ubaid Shah bowling to the captain of Pakistan Babar Azam during a practice session.
Ubaid Shah has fine wrists when he pitches the ball outside off-stump; Babar Azam attempts to leave it alone but at quick speed; however, it curves back into him before missing the stumps.
Babar Azam tries to pull a short pitched delivery from Ubaid Shah but fails and hits himself instead.
Fakhar Zaman, who bats left-handedly, appears to have his hands full playing against Ubaid Shah. Fakhar Zaman plays defensively on his back foot but gets beaten by one that moves away from him and narrowly misses the outside edge of his bat into the gloves of wicketkeeper.
He was named as part of ICC’s all-tournament team after picking up 18 wickets at less than 14 runs per wicket average as they made it into semi-finals of 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
Don’t be surprised if this eighteen year old makes his international debut soon enough for Pakistan senior cricket side too.
