During Los Angeles Knight Riders’ Major League Cricket (MLC) match against San Francisco Unicorns on Sunday, Andre Russell could have easily contested that the maximum he hit to go from 30 to 36 deserved more than six runs. The hit was so massive that even Shakib Al Hasan the fellow mate of Russell had a smile on his face.
The ball landed outside Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas at an enormous length of 107 meters.
Haris Rauf, the Pakistan fast bowler, bowled the final over of the Knight Riders innings; and it was off the third ball of this same over that West Indian allrounder Russell took a short ball angling in and smashed it over wide long-on for maximum as he displayed great power in his stroke that saw the ball fly over the roof.
Shakib responded with disbelief while some others were left behind at Knight riders dugout.
However, despite Andre Russell’s unbeaten 40 off 25 balls, Knight Riders ended up with only 165 for 6 on their total scoresheet.
The chase turned out be easy meal for Unicorns.
Who opened innings from New Zealand, Finn Allen hammered 63 off just 37 balls including Matthew Short (58 off 26 balls) who added another century-run partnership –with a total of six wickets remaining–to win their side’s victory by four point two overs.
