When you have cast your vote in Bihar on June 1st, there is a special offer for you. One reason why new releases did well this week was due to an all movie title ticket pricing at Rs.99.
Bihar voters pay 50% less for cinema
In an unprecedented move in Bihar, the cinemas are now offering a fifty percent discount on the cost of a movie ticket for any individual who voted on Saturday in Lok Sabha elections.
According to Kumar Abhishek; “We have been asked to provide a 50% discount to voters from Sunday. This implies that; we shall experience another increase in footfalls this weekend.”
On Friday, Sharan Sharma’s Mr & Mrs Mahi opened strong with over Rs.6 cr while Day 1 of Abhinay Deo’s Savi has made about Rs2 crores .The numbers are expected to improve even more on Sunday.
Said Kumar Abhishek; “Even last week’s releases Srikanth, Laapataa Ladies and Bhaiyya Ji are showing decent collections but it cannot be said that there is cause for celebration among those concerned with film business.” To get people into theatres like monetary incentives only work if the product is good. Those who have seen them liked this week’s releases. But will they convince those undecided yet?”
What is more important is the fact that all publicity for Savi revolves around its leading lady Divya Khossla and nothing else? Even though he was paid heavily and plays a major role, Anil Kapoor has refused to undertake any promotion work for Savi since his agreement to act in it?
