Virat Kohli will be the center of attention yet again as India Steps into field for their second and final Test match against Bangladesh. While the hosts will be looking to secure the series 2-0 in order to retain the top position on the World Test Championship (WTC) table, Kohli and Rohit Sharma captain will also look for runs after returning from a poor performance in the first test at Chennai. Virat Kohli will be wearing the redemption arc as India takes on Bangladesh in the second Test of the 2 match series on home soil.
Before coming to Kanpur, India had already secured the first test match against Bangladesh with a dominating margin of 280-runs. That being said, both players had different performances at the MA Chidambaram stadium as Kohli scored 6 and 17 over two innings while Rohit could manage a total of 11 in both tyres.
The second of the two proved to be easier after the initial stunner and the squad is straight into action at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur where Kohli and Rohit had to lower their heads in the nets trying to shake off the cobwebs after the break since the ODI Series over in Sri Lanka at the beginning of August.
It is fair to say that Virat Kohli will be very eager to score some runs very badly after his not so impressive year. Disappointing as it may sound, Kohli has only accumulated 319 runs so far in 15 matches played across all formats this year and has only one in fifty.
India’s chances of success over the remainder of the season, which includes eight further tests after the match at Kanpur – three against New Zealand at home and five in Australia, will lie heavily on Kohli’s form.
Over the last four decades at India’s happy hunting ground in Kanpur where the hosts have not lost since 1983, Kohli and Rohit will be on the lookout for their places in the Centurions club along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill who scored in the first test.
