More than 360,000 people have volunteered to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign as she vies for the White House against former President Donald Trump.
If nominated officially next month at the Democratic Party national convention in Chicago, Harris would be making history by being elected on November 5th. She will become the first woman and a person who is from Indian-American background, Asian and African American to hold that office.
In the space of a week alone, the Harris campaign raised an impressive $200 million with 17,000 new volunteers joining the effort.
According to Dan Kanninen, Battleground States Director for ‘Harris for President,’ “We continue to see enormous enthusiasm around the Vice President’s campaign. Less than one week; over $200 million had come in with two-thirds of it coming from new donors. We now have 360,000 new volunteers today.”
“We’re underdogs in this race,” said Harris despite popular support. “But this is a people-powered campaign and we got momentum.”
The campaign aims to increase its activities both in Blue Wall and Sunbelt states due to several ways leading up to getting 270 electoral votes required for victory.
Harris’ record on reproductive rights has found resonance among voters across diverse demographics including suburbanites; traditionally republican areas and rural communities. Finally, her candidacy also mobilizes Democrats’ wide-ranging constituency while exciting young voters everywhere. The race might be tight like it was last year but their victory stands sure.”
