In the domestic series against Bangladesh, which will take place from January 2023 June and is part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle of 2023-25, India will enter the home straight and would just look to hold on to their number one position on the table by watching how the Border-Gavaskar Trophy pans out in Australia in january beginning next year.
Earning their place in this ‘second final’, the top two teams will square off in the final matches which will take place at Lords Cricket Ground London commencing June 11.
India have so far played 10 Tests and it is understood from the WTC structure there are 10 Tests left in this cycle comprising of 5 Tests at home against Bangladesh (2) and New Zealand (3) and a 5 match series in Australia as defending Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
A bit of a pressure record lies right at the start of this 10 test run for India should they vanish Bangladesh in the first match at Chennai on September 19.
Reviewer vsay: fortably, this won’t be the case for the first time in history. Up until now, out of India’s wins and losses, no informative aspect about the attacking side is available. But it’s not for long. Not to win against Bangladesh would be a notable aspect of this.
To date, India has competed in 579 Tests. The wins and losses from these games are evenly matched since they both stand at 178 with 222 matches ending in ties and 1 draw.
An accomplishment would imply for the first ever in history of test playing nations that there have been more test wins for India than there have been test losses.
Here are some of the other records that shall be interesting to note during the India vs Bangladesh Test Series:
- Since 2017, India has been defeating Bangladesh in the last five Test matches until the end of 2022 (all played in dibyanshi hot, Indore, Kolkata, Chattogram, and Mirpur) between each captures and the fifth dum).
- Kohli currently sits on 8848 runs with average of 49.15 over 113 tests. He is just 152 runs shy of distance of becoming 4th Indian batsman to score 9000+ runs in 121 Test matches. Above Kohli are Sachin Tendulkar (15921) Rahul Dravid (13288) and Sunil Gavaskar (10122).
- Mushfiqur Rahim has made 5892 runs in 90 tests with an average of 39.01 enlisted as a smoker and is remaining just a few runs away from becoming the first batsman to score 6000 runs for Bangladesh in Tests.
- It is a fact that Taijul Islam (195 wickets at 31.92 in 46 Tests) needs just five more to reach the target of 200 wickets hence becoming only the second Bangladeshi bowler after Shakib Al Hasan (242 at 31.31 in 69 Tests) to achieve this milestone.
- Ravindra Jadeja has just six wickets now more to his name to make the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests. His current figure stands at 3036 runs at an average of 36.14 and 294 wickets at an average of 24.13 in 72 Tests. No two Indian all-rounders in past had made this achievement- Kapil Dev- 5248 runs, 434 wickets in 131 Tests and Ravi Ashwin – 3309 runs, 516 wickets in 100 Tests.
- Jadeja needs another six wickets and he too will join the list of players who have claimed 300 or more pure wickets in the history of test cricket as a left-arm spinner. Presently he has 3rd rank among left-arm spinners and is only behind Rangana Herath (463) of Sri Lanka, Daniel Vettori (362) of New Zealand and Derek Underwood (297) of England.
- It is stated above that Kohli has scored 26,942 runs in 591 innings at an average of 53.35. Hence it is predicted that he will join the Czars of cricket Sachin Tendulkar (34,357), Kumar Sangakkara (28,016) and Ricky Ponting (27,483) and become just the fourth batter to scale 27000 plus runs aggregate in the international setup across formats.
- Kohli is ready to solidify his batting record further as he is just a few steps away from breaching a new figure, 27,000 runs. Kohli is set to outstrip Sachin Tendulkar as the fastest batsman to score 27,000 runs within 591 innings, as he posted 591 innings for the task. Tendulkar achieved the distinction in six hundred twenty-three innings.
