West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday said he refused to be “intimidated by carefully crafted narratives” and that no one could stop him from “fighting violence and corruption” in the state.
According to a report on the website of Bangladesh’s leading daily Anandabazar Patrika, the woman claimed to be a temporary worker at Raj Bhavan and went to the police station to complain. The development prompted the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress party to launch a tirade against the governor during the Lok Sabha elections.
“Truth will prevail. I refuse to be intimidated by well-crafted narratives. If anyone seeks electoral gain by defaming me, God bless them. But they cannot stop me from fighting corruption and violence in Bengal,” Raj Bhawan of Kolkata X account posted Thursday night.

Following the development, the state assembly banned the entry of state police personnel and TMC minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, who responded to the governor’s allegations. The Governor also spoke to the Attorney General regarding this matter.
The Mahila wing of the Trinamool Congress organized a protest rally from Moulali to Dorina crossing at 4 pm on Friday.
The TMC, which has clashed with Bose several times in the past, called the allegations against the governor “shocking and unimaginable”. “The sanctity of Raj Bhavan, the symbol of our Constitution, has been tarnished,” the group said on So-called “obscenity charges.”
Former Meghalaya Governor Tartagata Roy said that under Article 361, the president and governors enjoy constitutional protection from criminal prosecution during their tenure.
“I do not recall such accusations being made in the past. I cannot say what would have happened if the matter had gone to court,” Anandabazar Patrika quoted him as saying. He did not rule out plots to divert attention from “several corruption cases and Sandesh Khali” in which women have accused local TMC leaders of land grabbing and sexual harassment.
