According to the police, a travel influencer died in a gorge on July 17 while trying to shoot a video near Kumbhe waterfalls in Mangaon’s Raigad district.
The deceased has been identified as Aanvi Kamdar (26), who resided in Mumbai. Ms. Kamdar was an influencer who loved making reels.
She went with her friends to enjoy the rainy season at the waterfalls.
The woman slipped her leg off while shooting videos and photos of the waterfall, plunging into an abyss of 350 feet deep.
Sahyadri Wildlife Conservation Society received information about an incident occurred and it reached at that place along with Mangaon police team headed by superintended of police Pashan. Somnath Gharge, immediately after which rescue forces had been deployed there.
“There were big stones falling on us when we were descending to rescue the woman from the gorge. It seemed like she was dead before but when we got closer. She was breathing so I confirmed that she is alive and she was rushed into hospital immediately then died under treatment,” Mr. Somanth added.
After assessing the situation, rescue operation began.
On June 30 this year around 12:30pm, five members belonging to one family drowned. While at a waterfall located near Bhushi Dam in Lonavala Pune.
The bodies were later recovered by rescue teams.
Senior district official said one of two children missing since their family drowned was found dead there.
Pune District Collector Suhas Diwas urged all people visiting such places should be careful and not visit any water body during monsoon season in order to avoid any risk for themselves and others with whom they can come across.
“I request people not to go anywhere nearby falls or streams. They have given advisories, told management will handle all sorts of incidents now. We have had similar incidents over past few days. Special care must be taken and weather conditions must be kept in mind while planning anything,” he said.
