The upcoming Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament will provide an opportunity for Vyshak Vijaykumar, the vice-captain and pacer of Gulbarga Mystics to display his prowess and enhance his self-confidence.
In 2024 Indian Premier League tournaments, he played four matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and bowled out four players in these games which made a big difference. In this contest, he became a game-changer with impactful bowling spells as his team won the match.
Vyshak added, “Training with Virat Kohli can really impact you as a player.” For instance, I was watching him last season because I loved his concentration in everything he did including how he ate or practiced.”
“These days I try to be confident like him before every game,” said the 27-year-old fast bowler.
The team’s experienced player Vyshak will be responsible for guiding and developing its young talents. He had been mentored by Siraj among others who had offered him invaluable advice when he first joined the squad.
When ANI asked Vyshak about the situation he claimed that “My first game went well for RCB but then I gave up sixty runs in the second one. Siraj told me ‘This is the game, and this is the challenge at the highest level.’ This year my aim is not to forget it and make sure I tell it to other people whenever possible.”
Going into next season, this talented pace bowler who has also scored a hundred in first-class cricket is determined to overcome last year’s challenges. Even without Devdutt Padikkal, The Mystics finished third.
“Last year we were incomplete without Devdutt’s performance, but we want to finish stronger this time around. We have good batting depth here and even myself i have been batting well so i am hopeful of giving some sort of assistance with my bat,” he said as he sounded positive about the team.
While Vyshak has stepped down from captaincy, he is looking forward to working with Padikkal in his capacity as the vice-captain. “I am still in love with captaincy but now I want to assist him being a vice captain because of Devdutt’s experience and recently when he made it to India. I am very hopeful that this year will be different due to his absence last season,” he continued.
“The first season of Maharaja got me noticed and led to my IPL debut, this platform provided by KSCA is exceptional and a huge opportunity for all of us,” Vyshak had said during a press meet about the importance of the tournament.
On 15th August, Gulbarga Mystics will start their journey in Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20. In the initial game Bengaluru Blasters will play against them hence making their opening game tough.
