Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he respects US President Joe Biden’s “tough but strong” decision to conclude his reelection campaign on Monday. In a message posted on the social media platform X, Zelenskiyy conveyed Ukraine’s gratitude for Biden’s “unwavering support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom”.
“Ukraine is grateful to President Biden for his unwavering support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom, which, along with strong bipartisan support in the United States, has been and continues to be critical,” Zelenskiy said in a post.
“Many strong decisions have been made in recent years and they will be remembered as bold steps taken by President Biden in response to challenging times. And we respect today’s tough but strong decision,” he added.
Zelenskyy also thanked the United States for standing with Ukraine even during its most decisive moments. “We will always be grateful to President Biden. He stood with us when nobody else would have, this country whilst Russia was trying to occupy it and he sticks with us until now under those unfathomable war circumstances,” said Zelenskyy.
The Ukrainian leader also emphasised the ongoing challenges faced by Ukraine. He conveyed his sincere hope that the United States would maintain its robust leadership role in countering Russian aggression. “The present situation has no lesser complexity than that of Europe or any other part of it; we expect strongly that America will continue leading against Russia so as not to allow her abominations successful or aggression profitable.” (Zelenskyy).
