Ticket price for the forthcoming summer Test match between India and England at Lord’s has been increased once more even though the fans’ enthusiasm for the latest match against Sri Lanka was only lukewarm.
Marylebone Cricket Club, the owner of Lord’s, received flak regarding the price of entry tickets for the Test which was played this summer against Sri Lanka.
The 5 match Test series between the two countries starts with the first Test on June 20. The third Test of the series will be held at Lords from July 10.
For the Lord’s Test against India, the price of the lowest category ticket is pegged at 90 pounds, but these are obstructed view seats.
Republic TV reports that fans looking for unobstructed views would have to pay anywhere between 120-175 pounds.
Restricted view tickets for general fans for the Sri Lanka Test last month were in the 115-140 pounds range. Less than a third capacity of the stadium was silled with only 9000 spectators, the match lasted four days.
The series with India is the second most interesting after the tournament with Australia – Ashes.
England’s stand in Test captain at the time, Ollie Pope, was amazed at the small numbers of spectators present after the second Test with Sri Lanka. “It was quite literally just like, ‘jeez, it seems quiet today’. It was just like ‘jeez, it seems quiet today’,” Pope said.
“I really don’t know if people were expecting to complete the game or not on day four. It’s a pity there was only a partial turnout as it was clear it was going to be a good day playing.”
