Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday came out in favor of reservation for Muslims and said it “should be done now”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reacted to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s remarks that “Muslims must have reservations” and accused the Indian bloc of never being able to move beyond “appeasement”.
“They don’t see the above policy of appeasement now. If they wake up, they will take away your right to breathe too.
Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday came out in support of reservation for Muslims and said “it should be done now”. Talking to reporters in Patna, the RJD chief said the BJP-led NDA government wanted to “complete the constitution”.
“People are voting for us. They (BJP) want completion of the constitution and democracy. People have understood this and that is why they want clarification,” he said.
Lalu Prasad Yadav further expressed support for reservation for Muslims and said: “Reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, pura (Reservation is mandatory for Muslims).”
Addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar, Prime Minister Modi took a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying a “feed scam accused” leader who is out on bail advocated reservation of rights for Muslims.
“He (Lalu Prasad Yadav) further said that full reservation should be left to Muslims. This means that whatever reservation the SC/ST and OBC communities have, they want to take it away and give it to Muslims,” the prime minister said.
“They are doing this because their vote bank is limited to minorities. Now Congress also wants to decide who will participate in cricket matches based on religion,” PM Modi further added.
