The Indian board (BCCI) started receiving congratulatory messages as he was named the new head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team.
This brave Gambhir, known for his fearless and outspoken character in his playing days takes over from Dravid, who is more introverted. He quit international cricket upon winning the T20 World Cup last month.
Gambhir took to X after being named head coach: “India has given me an identity and serving my country was the greatest privilege of my life. I am honoure to be back with a different hat on though, but for me it is always about making every Indian proud. The dreams of 1.4 billion Indians rest on our sholders; I will do whatever possible to make these dreams come true.”
And soon, there were wishes pouring in for him from former Indian opener.
“Congratulations @GautamGambhir for your new innings as Head Coach of Indian Cricket Team. I am sure that your experience, energy, passion, aggression and talent will steer the team on the path of excellence. My best wishes to you. Good luck buddy” said former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh while Gambhir replied “Thanks a lot brother! @harbhajan_singh”

Nitish Rana who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL where Gambhir used to mentor till last season posted this message: “Congratulations Gauti bhaiya on becoming India’s head coach Love the GG mentality we’ll miss you at KKR”. And Gambhir replied Many thanks Nitish! God bless
