Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi walked out of Tihar jail and then a day later he was preparing to visit the Hanuman temple at Connaught Place in the national capital. Forty days after being jailed, he thanked Lord Hanuman for giving him interim bail.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor has also confirmed that he will hold a press conference at the party office in Delhi on Saturday May 11. He said on Friday that he will also take part in evening roadshow in south Delhi.
That morning, the Supreme Court gave Kejriwal interim bail till June 1 in connection with a money laundering case that relates to an alleged GST policy scam. On June 2nd, he must surrender and return to prison.
The AAP leader called it “game changer” for AAP and India group campaign as Lok Sabha polls enter into crucial phase next week.
Opposition leaders have also welcomed his interim bail and said “the fight to save democracy” will become more intense now. Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj dropped hints about Kejriwal’s ascent as India’s top leader saying that he will travel across country to campaign for Lok Sabha polls.
Chanting “Kejriwalji Chhoot Gaye, Jail Ke Tale Toot Gaye”, AAP workers and supporters welcomed their chief minister walking out of jail on Friday evening.
Atop a car rooftop outside jail wearing gray T-shirts, Mr. Kejriwal addressed AAP leaders who were there to welcome him home from prison.
He spoke starting with slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Vande Mataram” and “Inquilab Zindabad,” but moved on to say: “I am fighting against dictatorship with my whole force but we need 140 billion people (of this country) together fighting against it.”
This means that tomorrow, by 11 am he will be at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place and then by 1 pm, a press conference will be held at the AAP office. “I feel great being with you. I have told you that I will come out soon… First of all, I want to pay my obeisances to Lord Hanuman. I am among you because of the blessings of Lord Hanuman,” Kej Rival said and asked people to come to the temple in large numbers.
